Papilio dardanus (Flying Handkerchief)

Meet the Flying Handkerchief butterfly documented by Ojonugwa Ekpah.

This butterfly fascinates scientists in Africa partly because it is large, beautiful and easy to breed. This species is broadly distributed throughout sub-saharan Africa. The British entomologist E. B. Poulton described it as ‘the most interesting butterfly in the world’. This beautiful butterfly with variable females makes one proud to be African. This species is recorded among the citrus plants in LUFASI nature park in Lagos, Nigeria.
