Euryphura chalcis (Common Commander)

Happy Monday!

This is a common forest butterfly which is sometime found in severely disturbed areas, even in gardens, shot by Ojonugwa Ekpah. Courtship takes place in open sunlight in clearings and along roads. This butterfly is variable and can be confused with Euryphura plautilla (Larsen, 2005). It was seen it Oban Hills in Cross River state, Nigeria where it tries to hide among dried leaves for defense.
